Water Recovery, Accident Repairs


Water Repairs

OKTA has the highest successful recovery rate for water damage recovery. To help us to achieve even higher rates of success, please follow the procedures listed below


Post Damage Procedure:

  1. 1.Shutdown Device (Most Devices can be turned off by removing their batteries; Apple Devices please see diagram below)












  1. 2.If the device has been exposed to corrosive liquids like seawater and acid, dunk device into fresh water and drain out a few times, then store the device submerged in fresh water. If the liquid is not corrosive, go to step 3

  2. 3.Store device in a cool dry place (in an air-condition room, in a dry bag or container) Liquid Savers Bags improve survivability

  3. 4.Bring to OKTA/Fix8 for cleanup as soon as you can.


Facts:

  1. A.Keeping the device in a bag of rice is only good for keeping dry. It does not dry out the device completely if the device is very wet.

  2. B.Hair-dryers causes more damage as heat accelerates corrosion

  3. C.Trying to turn on, charge or sync the device will cause more electrical damage to the device

  4. D.The longer you wait to repair the device, the poorer the chance of reviving the device and the more costly the repair will be.

  5. E.By following the steps above, your device’s chance of full recovery is more than 95%


Accident Repairs


Post Damafge Procedure:

  1. 1.If possible, turn off the device. (optional but it helps to prevent electrical damage during transportation of the device)

  2. 2.Collect as many of the parts as possible and put them all in a bag

  3. 3.Bring to OKTA/Fix8 for diagnosis as soon as you can.


Facts:

  1. A.Putting the device in an enclosed bag prevents moisture and dust that may damage your device further.

  2. B.You may damage the device further if you try to “poke around”.

  3. C.Trying to charge or sync the device may result in loss of data and/or further damage to the board.
